Bishop Cheryl R. Smith, D.Min., Co-Pastor

Bishop Cheryl Smith is the Co-Pastor and one of the Founders of the Emmanuel
Worship and Deliverance Center (November 2002). Prior to Pastoring, she served
as a committed member from birth at the Beth-El Temple Church of Christ under
the leadership of the Late Apostle Robert Evans, Jr. and in later years, Bishop
Richard Pender, Sr.


Saved at the age of 9 years old, she has always enjoyed learning about God and His
word. Even as a child, the hand of the Lord was upon her life, often using her in
the area of prophetic visions, dreams, and interpretation. In 1993, she accepted the
call to ministry and the Office gift of Teacher. After 4 years of careful study,
preparation, and training, she was licensed in March 1998 to teach and proclaim
His Word.


Professionally, she has over 25 years experience as an Educator and Administrator
in the Baltimore City Public School System. She currently works as an
Educational Implementation Consultant providing Professional Development and
supports to school districts around the country.


Dr. Smith is a life-long learner and believes in education She holds a Bachelor of
Arts Degree from the University of Maryland where she studied Social Science
and Pharmaceutical Science. She received Certification in Youth Ministries at St.
Mary’s Seminary and Certification in Elementary Education and Administration
from the State of Maryland. She also has a Master’s Degree in Counseling
Psychology from Towson University, a second Master's Degree in Educational
Leadership from Concordia University, a Doctorate in Christian Education from
The North Carolina College of Theology, and is currently working on another
Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration from Concordia
University. In Spring of 2024, Dr. Smith completed a Leadership Program at
Cornell University where she received certification in Women’s Leadership.

In addition to being a Pastor and a Teacher, she has also been blessed to add the
title of author to her list of attributes and has written and published several books --
Pain with a Purpose, It’s Ok to Breathe Again and was part of an Anthology
entitled, When Women Speak. Her most recent book just came out at the end of
the Summer of 2024 and is entitled, The Power to Transform.


In October 2016, during the 27th Holy Convocation of the Beth-El Churches of
Christ, Incorporated in Raleigh, NC under the leadership of the Presiding Prelate,

the late Bishop Bernard N. Bragg, Dr. Cheryl Smith was consecrated to the office
of Overseer with jurisdiction over the national Women's Department of the
reformation.


In October, 2022 she was consecrated to the Episcopacy as an Auxiliary Bishop
under the leadership of the Presiding Bishop of the Beth- El Christ, Bishop Richard
J. Pender, Sr.


Bishop Smith lives her life following the concept of "If I can help somebody as I
pass along, then my living shall not be in vain." As God continues to speak, she
strives to be obedient to His will and to the call of destiny.
